Rachel Mockler:
owner, designer, contractor
After bouncing around the West while trying my hand at trailwork, construction, catering, flower farming etc and earning a Master's of Science in Environmental Studies (Sustainable Food & Farming), I finally settled in Portland, OR. My love of plants, gardening and agriculture has been lifelong and since settling in Portland, I've been combining my art background and arsenal of diverse skills I've acquired from work in related fields, as a landscape designer and contractor. I believe in creating beautiful, functional landscapes that are as climate-adapted as possible, and limit resource-intensive inputs. I love removing lawns and replacing them with low-water landscapes. I am also a Backyard Habitat Certification Program designer/contractor and can help you work towards certification. When not designing and installing YOUR garden, I like to tinker in my own garden, hike/camp/forage, craft, bodybuild, make puns, cry over the Star Trek TNG 'Inner Light' episode.

installation assistant
After three years of experience in herbal gardening and farming in the Pacific Northwest, I joined Queen Green Gardens’ team in 2021 as landscape installation assistant. I work hard to bring my education in sustainable landscapes from Bastyr University to use while installing Queen Green Garden designs and enjoy the opportunity to work with such a knowledgeable team while I continue to pursue my studies in natural resource management and stream and wetland ecology.
